Families Continuous Attitude Survey (FamCAS) 2024 – now open!

Have your say in this year’s Families Continuous Attitude Survey (FamCAS) – open until Monday 22 April. Don’t miss out – check if you’ve been invited to take part.

FamCAS is an annual, tri-Service survey, which invites a sample of Service spouses and civil partners to share what they like and dislike about Service family life.

This anonymous survey covers key issues that impact you, as Service families, and gives you the chance to share your views on aspects of day-to-day Service family life. This includes questions on employment, childcare, and healthcare.

Why is FamCAS important?

Defence recognises the valuable contribution and sacrifices that Service families make and is committed to supporting your needs.

FamCAS enables Defence to better understand the impact of Service life on family life, providing evidence and valuable insight to inform policy that benefits Service families. FamCAS results were used to develop the UK Armed Forces Families Strategy 2022-32, which sets out Defence’s 10-year plan to drive forward positive initiatives to support Service families.

Who can take part in the survey, and how?

A different sample of spouses and civil partners of regular Service personnel are invited to complete the survey each year. This helps to make sure that a broad range of Service family voices are heard.

To check if you’ve been invited to take part in FamCAS, and for details on how to access the survey, visit the eligibility tool. The tool works best with Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. If you’ve been invited to take part in FamCAS, your spouse/civil partner should have received an email invite in their MOD mailbox.

Both the eligibility tool and survey will ask for a token/access code, which is your partner’s Service number. This is for security reasons only. Please be assured that FamCAS is an anonymous survey, and responses will not be linked to Service numbers in any way.

Not in this year’s sample? You can still have your say

If you haven’t been invited to take part in FamCAS 2024, you can still share your views and experiences. To share your thoughts, take this short survey.

This survey is anonymous and is open to those in a relationship with a member of the Regular Armed Forces. This includes those who are not married/in a civil partnership. These responses will be analysed as part of FamCAS 2024. If you have any questions about this year's FamCAS, please email: Analysis-Surveys-Enquiries@mod.gov.uk
